The Use of Computer Modeling in Room Acoustics
نویسنده
چکیده
After decades of development room acoustical computer models have matured. Hybrid methods combine the best features from image source models and ray tracing methods and have led to significantly reduced calculation times. Due to the wave nature of sound it has been necessary to simulate scattering effects in the models. Today's room acoustical computer models have several advantages compared to scale models. They have become reliable and efficient design tools for the acoustic consultants, and the results of a simulation can be presented not only for the eyes but also for the ears with new techniques for auralisation.

Author Samuel Siltanen Title Efficient Physics-Based Room-Acoustics Modeling and Auralization The goal of this research is to develop efficient algorithms for physicsbased room acoustics modeling and real-time auralization. Given the room geometry and wall materials, in addition to listener and sound source positions and other properties, the auralization system aims at reproducing the sound as...
متن کاملUse of Stochastic Turbulence Models in Jet Acoustics
There are many approaches to determine the sound propagated from turbulent flows. In hybrid methods, the turbulent noise source field is computed or modeled separately from the far-field calculations. To have an initial and quick estimation of the sound propagation, less computationally intensive methods can be developed using stochastic models of the turbulent fluctuations. In this paper, ...

متن کاملArchitectural Acoustics and Education in Acoustics: Computer Modeling in Buildings and the Environment as an Education Tool
Acoustic building modeling in computer programs is very useful in the understanding of room acoustics for venues of various types by architecture and architectural engineering students. Models provide calculation of reverberation time using the Sabine and similar equations as interior materials are changed. Ray tracing can be used to understand the effect of disturbing sound reflections from in...
